ROAD TRIP: Day 3 - Adelaide
We didn't have any propane so we pretty much only had oranges and yogurt for breakfast. It was freezing cold but because we hadn't showered the day before, it was only reasonable to stand outside in the cold wind underneath the stream of water trying to wash yourself as fast as you could.
We drove to Maccas to charge our shit (and upload stuff on my blog on the side) and boy, did we stay there for a while... We had woken up pretty late thanks for boozing up and because the free WiFi is soo damn slow, we were done as late as 2:30 PM. DEATH. Add a round of shopping in Woolies for food, propane and a jerrycan at an hardware store and just in general trying to find all these places PLUS trying to locate our way OUT OF THE CITY, and it was already 4:30 PM when we finally managed to get out of Adelaide....... so much effort... :D
Melanie and Laura were sitting in the back and me and Dominic at the front. This day's driving was my favourite so far. Just enjoying the pretty plain yet pretty scenery of fields and blue sky and chatting with Dom. We had a DNM (Deep and Meaningful conversation) about life and it was pretty intense. Life sorts itself out and you gotta do some good shit so karma won't bite you in the ass. Thank you Karma for the free fuel a couple of days before btw.
Oh, and I discovered a new setting on my camera which i'm stocked about! I was just taking picture of everything.. like the Snowtown -sign (do aussies even know what snow is?? :D On Blue Mountain i guess..) and the couple of weird PURPLE lakes we passed. We even saw a Laura -sign but didn't bother to wake Laura up as she was dozing at the back.
We were drinking energy drinks and raving along my music with Dom so we were pretty pumped up when we arrived to Port Augustus. Finally we went into a drive-in Bottle-O ! It was amazing. You don't have to get up at all. Just order your booze from the car and pay while sitting! We bought Sovereign Point, the cheapest goon, and some cheap az beer! Seriously, $20 for a 24-pack??????? (Remember that we are in Australia where you have to pay $15 for a 6-pack.)
We found a spot for our van behind an Aboriginal Child Care Centre in the dodgy part of town. We made delicious wraps and drank our cheap Hummingbird beer. It was only then when we discovered why the sale on the beer: they had expired over two months ago..... o_o I don't think its dangerous for you but i don't think its legal either. We were talking about finnishing up the beer and suing the bottle shop. haha, too much effort! Although we could get pretty loaded on $$$...
We had to move the van cause this safety guard (who was chill) came to tell us we could get fined, for camping out in the place we were at, if the cops would find us. Port Augustus is also a dry zone, so we aren't even aloud to drink beer in our van cause we are in a public area. So we could get fined for that too. The guard gave us directions to a place were people usually stay at for free and so we drove there. We didn't quite manage to locate this place so we just ended up parking at Woolies' parking lot which was full of teens skateboarding and BMX'ing.
We actually felt like zoo animals cause all of those 15 kids surrounded our van and they were oddly really hyped about us while we had a chat with them. Damn these kids started getting really annoying when they wanted to cramp up into our already tiny van. They were just standing in our door way and making no sign of intending to leave us to do our own thing so I was pretty happy when a cop showed up for the second time to tell us we can't camp at Woolies. Thank god the drive to the parking lot nearby wasn't long cause none of us were in th state to drive really.
We only drove 300 K today, but that's okay.
