So strange to leave Australia. Can't really comprehend it. Talked with Laura about how everything seems like it only happened yesterday. I remember arriving at Hong Kong airport and meeting Laura so vividly... Getting the first of many hostel shuttles to come to Cairns Beach House, the Nomads Hostel. Meeting Kendra, Cecilia and Thomas Riggs. Going out for dinner and seeing fly foxes. Meeting Stella and Pamela, the two lovely finnish girls with whom I will no doubt see back in our hometown, Helsinki. Leaving Cairns to Mission Beach, having some of the best nights in Australia, Deep and intellectual convos with sexy Siim & Hike, Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, meeting Ian and Jared in Townsville and starting to travel with Melanie. Laughing hilarously at Wolfman... Magical night at Castle Hill with Jared n Ian. Magnetic Island camping, raging rain and the most uncomfortable night ever, Henrietta's "choks" and garlic tea (works), Fullmoon party, arriving at Airlie Beach and meeting all our friends from previous towns. Sucky whitsundays, first surf in 1770, hecticness of Fraser Island and becoming friends with Dom. Shotgunning, flip cupping. Bouncer not letting me in at Rainbow Beach, drama in Noosa Heads, going out for Dom's recommended sushi place in Brisbane and meeting Jasmine and Vilma! Gold Coast: schoolies, seeing Tom for the first time in over a year, staying at his place, meeting Yoshi and designing my board, random house party, coach surfing, eating noodles with Reece at Peter Pans and getting a good deal from him on our van. Byron bay: Arts Factory. Noodle Box. Cute Josh. Sydney and staying with the gayest and most gorgeous Isaac <3 17 hour bus drive down to Melbourne. Jucy van + me + laura + mel + dom = road trip. Mad night in the Out Back. Uluru. Attempt to go to Wolf Creek. All those legendary road trip songs. Sand in my Shoes. Returning to Melbourne and staying at the hatch were we had a manic night. Lots of drinking. Christmas Eve. Chirstamas Day dinner with Laura and chilling over O.C. My pre-birthday party. Falls Festival and seeing my board. New Years (could've been better and more sober). Killing the last days with Weeds and Heroes. Airport.
I will miss you Australia !
James and Laura dropped me off at the Melbourne airport where i met Tom and his friend Sam. We must've made quite a view with a total of 6 board with us.. The three hour wait passed quickly while watching one of the most legendary surf films made in the 60's, "Endless Summer". Have to download that one! I also bought the book Laura had recommended me, "Hope they serve beer in hell" by Max Tucker and another
very intellectual read: "The Last living slut" by some Iranian girl...
